ABIA CONSOLIDATED

Over 70% of industry in one sole class unit.

Year 2007 was one of the most productive in ABIA history in terms of results, in all aspects. Although there were some controvert matters, such as trans-fat, transgenic products, labeling and many others, we have managed to generate, jointly with the support of our member companies, essential industry data and information to enable better assessment and understanding.

Thus, events capable of demystifying and, at the same time, affording better understanding of food industry are encouraged. Moreover, we have also enhanced contacts with the Federal Government, especially the Health Department, in order to allow that lasting and productive channels are opened.

We may state that ABIA, throughout the year, has also consolidated its position with respect to other federal, state and local government agencies somehow connected with the industry. As much that our claims or positions deserve special attention.

It is not by chance that food industry, almost entirely, is affiliated to ABIA. It is widely known that we currently represent more than 70% of industry in one sole class unit.

In view of such importance, we must not ignore new challenges to be overcome. We have to struggle to render food industry better known. Therefore, we will put into practice along the year actions involving dissemination of knowledge and information on industrialized food quality and responsibility.
